Auburn Seminary mourns the passing of Walter Wink, who died May 10, 2012, at the age of 76, whose decades of biblical scholarship and prophetic witness were foundational to Auburn Seminary's mission to equip bold and resilient religious leaders who can bridge religious divides, pursue justice, and heal the world.

Media is the pulpit of the twenty-first century and there is a growing demand for faith leaders to use media as a tool to communicate their messages and mission work. Auburn is dedicated to educating seminarians to take their preaching, teaching, movement work and writing to meet the needs of TV, radio, print, social media and the Web. Auburn Media Training for the Public Square and the Pulpit is a 1-day workshop that equips graduating seminarians with the skills they need for effective ministry in the media landscape.

My heart broke a little for Anita each day. It broke because I recognized an all too familiar scenario unfolding -- the very idea that a black woman might be at once strong AND vulnerable beyond the capacity of America to notice, or if noticed, to endure. My heart was broken even as I was filled with enormous pride and inspired beyond words by her tenacious commitment to speak the truth of her life.
